Armenian Gymnasts Will Not Participate in World Cup Due to Coronavirus

International gymnastics competitions have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, including the World Cup in Doha, scheduled to take place from March 18 to 21. According to preliminary decisions, these events will now be held in the summer, starting on June 3 and concluding on June 6. This information was reported by the International Gymnastics Federation.

Four athletes were set to represent Armenia at the Doha World Cup: European silver medalist Artur Davtyan, European Youth Championship silver medalist Artur Avetisyan, European silver medalist Vahagn Davtyan, and European champion Harutyun Merdinyan. The Doha World Cup is a qualifying event for the 32nd Summer Olympic Games, but this is not significant for Armenia, as the country already has one quota place secured by European silver medalist Artur Davtyan (all-around). Head coach Hakob Serobyan has repeatedly indicated that the national team has no practical opportunities to secure additional quota places.
