VIDEO: The River is Buried in Garbage, Around it Only Stench: A Call for Help

Auroranews has received a call from residents of 2nd Street in Nor Arech, Yerevan. The citizens are expressing their dissatisfaction regarding the pollution of the Zangu River adjacent to their residential area.

"There are houses very close to the river, and Yerevan's No. 71 kindergarten is also located here. We don't know what to do; we have appealed to the municipality about this issue. All there is around us is pollution and stench. The river near the residential area is buried in garbage," said one of the concerned citizens.

Auroranews also sought comment from Hovsep Kubatyan, head of the information and public relations department of the Yerevan Municipality, regarding this issue. "The problem falls under the jurisdiction of 'Jrar' LLC. Nevertheless, the municipality staff regularly conducts explanatory work with the local residents, urging them not to throw garbage into the river. Of course, we understand there is a problem here, but the residents also need to realize that they are the ones generating the waste," Hovsep Kubatyan said in our conversation.
