Pope Francis Calls on Priests to Meet with Coronavirus Patients
Following news of a priest in Washington State, USA, contracting the coronavirus, Pope Francis has encouraged priests to meet with infected individuals, visit hospitals, and provide support to both the afflicted and healthcare personnel. This is reported by Mirror.co.uk.
Due to the coronavirus, for the first time in 66 years, the Pope broke the tradition of addressing from a window during Sunday mass at the Vatican. The Pope's message was broadcast live from inside the building, with all chairs empty. This Wednesday, the Pontiff will not address from the window either.
It should be noted that earlier this week, Italy became the second country in the world, after China, in terms of the number of coronavirus cases. According to the latest data, there are 10,149 confirmed cases, with 631 reported deaths and 1,004 recoveries. A quarantine has been declared in the country, all educational institutions are closed, and domestic travel is prohibited.
