Levon Ter-Petrosyan Will Not Travel to Brussels, Says Opposition Vice President
The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, has received an invitation to travel to Brussels but has no plans to attend. In an interview with Factinfo, the Vice President of the Armenian National Congress, Levon Zurabyan, stated that Ter-Petrosyan was invited by the ALDE group in the European Parliament to participate in a roundtable held in Brussels, which takes place from time to time upon ALDE's invitation.
“This is not new. He has participated several times; this is the third or fourth time this invitation has been extended. The invitation has come, and it was decided that I should attend this roundtable,” said Levon Zurabyan.
When asked why Levon Ter-Petrosyan would not participate, Zurabyan noted that it was deemed appropriate that way. The opposition vice president emphasized that it is standard practice in the relationship between the European Parliament and the liberal parties of Eastern Partnership countries.
It is noteworthy that on March 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also traveled to Brussels, where he met with Donald Tusk, the leader of the largest political group in the European Union. Additionally, it should be mentioned that the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, was also in Brussels recently and had a meeting with the EPP leader.
