VIDEO: 20 Million Dram Worth of Archaeological Items Stolen from Warehouse
On March 5, a theft was reported at the Sisian police department. According to a report from the director of a limited liability company, someone had entered one of the warehouses on Lalayan Street in Sisian and stolen copper and bronze items, including those of archaeological significance.
This information was provided by the Public Relations and Information Department of the Police of Armenia. Preliminary estimates indicate that the victim suffered damages of approximately 20 million drams.
A criminal case has been initiated in the territorial investigative department regarding the incident. Thanks to coordinated efforts by various units within the Sisian police department, the crime was solved. According to obtained operational data, a 31-year-old resident of the village of Ishkhanasar had committed the theft from the warehouse.
He was located, taken to the police station, and subsequently presented to the investigative department, where he provided a confession. Further investigative measures led law enforcement to recover part of the stolen items, which had already been sold. Efforts to locate the remaining stolen goods are ongoing. An investigation is underway.
