First Case of Coronavirus Registered in Cyprus
The Health Minister of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ali Pilli, has announced that the first case of coronavirus has been confirmed in their country. According to Pilli, the virus was discovered in a 65-year-old tourist who had arrived from Germany.
Following the confirmation of the virus, the 65-year-old German tourist was immediately placed under medical supervision. Authorities are also attempting to monitor all individuals who had contact with the German tourist.
On March 9, two additional cases of coronavirus were registered in the Republic of Cyprus. Both the Greek and Turkish sections of the island have implemented measures aimed at preventing the further spread of the virus.
