Former MP's Computer Gone Missing: Why Mihran Hakobyan Was Invited to the Investigative Committee

The former member of the National Assembly of Armenia and member of the Republican Party, Mihran Hakobyan, stated on his Facebook page that he has been invited to the Investigative Committee of Armenia regarding the disappearance of his computer from the National Assembly.

"As I mentioned, today I was summoned to the investigative department of Arabkir to be questioned as a witness in a criminal case. It turned out that the case is related to the disappearance of property in the National Assembly, which concerns me in that my computer from my former office is missing. It has been determined through the search efforts that I should be questioned about whether I am aware of the whereabouts of my former office's computer," wrote the former MP.

He also noted that he handed over his office at the National Assembly in December 2018 with the relevant documentation. According to him, a handover-acceptance act was prepared in the presence of a parliamentary employee, through which he removed his personal belongings from the building.

"Now it turns out that the footage from the surveillance cameras in the corridors of the National Assembly has not been preserved, and they cannot find the computer that I handed over to the parliamentary staff along with the office. A logical question arises: how could the computer disappear from the National Assembly building in 2019, when it is a state facility under special protection by the NSS, which is also an agency subordinated to the Prime Minister? In any case, today at the Arabkir investigative department, they asked about the missing computer, and whether I might know where it is. I responded that I had officially handed over the computer, and now I have no idea where it could be," Hakobyan stated.

The former MP also mentioned that the missing computer was not new, but rather "had seen better days" and had been transferred to the National Assembly due to its age, following its decommissioning from the balance of another state institution.

It is noteworthy that previously, Mihran Hakobyan announced on his Facebook page that he received a notice to appear for questioning from the Investigative Committee. The published notice dates back to February 20, 2020. However, Mihran Hakobyan stated that he received it late.
