Khabib Nurmagomedov Kicks Aside His Rival Tony Ferguson's Championship Belt
In a press conference held in Las Vegas on March 6, Russian lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about his upcoming fight with American Tony Ferguson and the offer from former world champion in five weight classes, Floyd Mayweather.
“Right now, I’m only thinking about the fight with Tony Ferguson. Tony is a powerful athlete, but I don’t particularly like him as a person. I am going to do everything to win against him. Mayweather wants to fight me and receive $600 million for it. But who is going to pay him that amount? I’m not going to do that. I accept Mayweather's proposal. If he is ready to fight for 11 rounds under professional boxing rules and 1 round under mixed martial arts rules, then let's start organizing the fight,” said Nurmagomedov.
Meanwhile, during the weigh-in for the fight, Nurmagomedov kicked aside his rival Tony Ferguson's championship belt. Ferguson placed it on the ground and called on Nurmagomedov to do the same. Nurmagomedov responded to the provocation with a kick.
