Healthy Man Should Build His Own House, Says PM Nikol Pashinyan
During a surprise stop in the village of Gyulagarak in the Lori province, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed various concerns raised by local residents. An elderly woman asked for assistance regarding her housing situation, explaining that she is a single woman without proper living conditions. Soon after, a young man approached the Prime Minister, requesting a home from the state as he lives in a wagon-house.
Upon learning that the young man’s living situation was not caused by a disaster, the Prime Minister expressed his discontent, saying, “This woman’s case is different, yours is different. She is an elderly woman living alone, and the state has obligations toward her, but your situation is another matter. You say you live in a wagon-house, and you expect me to build you a home? Is it the President’s job to build your house? You are a healthy young man—excuse me, but this is also a matter of dignity. Will a healthy man come and ask another healthy man to build a house for him? Who built my house? I worked for 24 hours to create my own home; it’s not a palace, but I did it.
We have recently renovated this road and recorded a 14% increase in tourism in Stepanavan. Now you understand what you can do and how to take advantage of it. We have created favorable conditions for young families to take out mortgage loans. In the end, work and create your own,” Pashinyan emphasized.
The Prime Minister concluded that while he was addressing the young man, his message also pertained to others facing similar issues.
