VIDEO: President Armen Sarkissian Congratulates Young Romik Over the Phone
On February 4, which marks World Cancer Day, President Armen Sarkissian hosted the Arshakyan family from the town of Aparan in the Aragatsotn Province. Ten-year-old Romik Arshakyan had been diagnosed with leukemia and bone involvement, and he is currently in remission.
President Sarkissian spoke with little Romik and his parents, inquiring about the child's treatment process, urging them not to lose heart, and encouraging them to maintain hope and faith throughout the treatment phases.
Today, Romik celebrated his 11th birthday. Along with the gifts he received on his special day, he will also treasure the phone call with the President as a memorable experience.
Of course, the President brought a surprise for the birthday boy. The gift from the President, a new phone, doubled Romik's joy, allowing him to call his friends and relatives more often, including, undoubtedly, President Armen Sarkissian himself.
Upon receiving the gift from the President, Romik called him and had a video chat, expressing his gratitude for the present and the kindness shown to him.
President Armen Sarkissian congratulated his young friend and sent wishes on his birthday, inquiring about Romik's health and talking about his daily life.
Romik mentioned that he also wanted to send the President a gift, which included a picture of the Armenian church in Akhtamar and a small elephant souvenir.
Expressing his thanks, the President once again asked what Romik wants to become in the future. It should be noted that during their previous meeting, the child expressed his desire to become a rescuer and then the President. Today, Romik reaffirmed, “I will rise from the position of rescuer to become President.”
“So, first a rescuer, then you will rise through the ranks, become a minister, and eventually become President,” President Sarkissian responded.
The genuine and direct conversation between the President and little Romik has strengthened their friendship, which began about a month ago.
“You are a strong boy, a tough boy, and you need to overcome this illness,” the President said, wishing health and success to young Romik and the Arshakyan family. “When it gets a little warmer, we will meet. Perhaps I will come to Aparan.”
