New Rules for Foreign Citizens at Georgia's Border Checkpoints Due to Coronavirus Spread
Attention. The Inter-Agency Coordination Council on coronavirus issues, operating under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Georgia, has adopted new decisions today aimed at preventing the further spread of the infection. This was reported by the Armenian Embassy in Georgia.
According to these decisions, a new regime will be in place for foreign citizens at Georgia's border checkpoints. Foreign citizens who have been in countries classified as high-risk zones by the World Health Organization (WHO) - such as China, South Korea, Italy, and Iran - during the previous 14 days before their arrival in Georgia will need to undergo a thorough health inspection upon entry at the border checkpoint and will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine procedure. Alternatively, they can present a laboratory test for 'COVID-19 PCR' that verifies they have undergone health inspection in their country of origin. If they are transiting from another country, they must provide a laboratory test from that transit country.
The Georgian government has also decided to temporarily suspend direct flights with Italy.
