A citizen has thrown an explosive device at the prosecutor's car and issued threats. He has been charged with multiple offenses, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee.
Based on the evidence obtained during the criminal investigation being conducted by the Yerevan investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee, it has been established that the citizen, dissatisfied with the administrative action taken due to a car accident he was involved in, threatened to kill a police officer and his child to demand a favorable decision for himself.
A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 137 of the RA Criminal Code (threatening to commit murder, causing serious harm to health, or destroying property). Subsequently, on January 29, 2020, he met with the prosecutor supervising the procedural management of the aforementioned criminal case, exhibiting aggressive behavior and making insulting statements, expressing dissatisfaction with the objectivity of the preliminary investigation.
On February 1, 2020, around 6:30 PM, he went to the prosecutor's office again and encountered the prosecutor in the parking lot, where he once more issued threats for the same reason. He then pursued the prosecutor's car, using sound signals, and abruptly braked in front of the prosecutor's vehicle, forcing him to stop. Afterward, he attempted to, but failed to, open the locked doors of the car and struck the door's glass with a screwdriver before leaving the scene.
Following these incidents, on February 27, 2020, around 10:30 AM, he went back near the prosecutor's building with the intent to destroy property, where he threw a homemade explosive device at the windshield of the prosecutor's car, causing damage.
A charge has been brought against him under part 1 of Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code (threatening the use of violence against a representative of authority) and part 2, points 1 and 3 of Article 185 (intentional destruction or damage to property). He has been taken into custody as a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing.
