Babayan's Office Addresses Restrictions on His Entry into Russia
The press service of Samvel Babayan has issued a clarification regarding the information about restricting his entry into Russia for five years.
The statement released by his office reads: “For the second day, the Armenian media space has been flooded with information about restricting Samvel Babayan's entry into the Russian Federation for five years. In response to inquiries from the media and their representatives, we inform you that such materials have a single purpose: to influence public consciousness through psychological pressure, particularly on the potential voter base of S. Babayan.
This type of tactic is not unexpected, as for more than two decades the public has been fed false information with the aim of preventing Samvel Babayan’s return at any cost. The evident public confidence and unity in Samvel Babayan exclude the reproduction of the authorities, and therefore his opponents continue to try to prevent the inevitable by any and all means.
On the other hand, the same sources have consistently linked Samvel Babayan with Russia, attributing to him pro-Russian “sins.” Following the news of the restriction on his entry into Russia, a question arises: is Samvel Babayan a pro-Russian or an anti-Russian “project”? Any answer to this question does not align with the interests of the sponsors.
In one of his interviews, Samvel Babayan noted that the policies of the former authorities of Armenia, almost the former authorities of Artsakh, and Azerbaijan coincide in that they must not allow his participation in the socio-political life of Artsakh. The fact that the Azerbaijani press eagerly reproduces information about restricting his entry into Russia is certainly understandable, but the fact that some Armenian media outlets indulge in rumors seeking exclusivity at least reveals the interests of their owners.
