Minister Arsen Torosyan Claims Coronavirus Does Not Belong to Class of Particularly Dangerous Infectious Diseases

The Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, addressed the issue of mask exports from Armenia. "China even asked us for humanitarian assistance in providing masks, and Gyumri sent masks," he said.

Torosyan noted that they have reached out to their counterparts in the diaspora, especially in the USA, for both professional and material support for Armenia.

The minister insisted that the coronavirus does not belong to the class of particularly dangerous infectious diseases, such as plague, cholera, yellow fever, or Ebola. "We have medication that has not yet been proven to specifically treat this virus. Armenia is rapidly procuring supplies in case there is a need to use them in larger quantities, but at this time, there is no necessity to do so," the minister stated.

In response to a question on whether it is possible to cancel the campaign for constitutional amendments, Arsen Torosyan replied, "Public health is our top priority, and if we see any threat to public health, we are ready to revisit any previous decision, and we will keep the public informed about this. However, there is currently no necessity for that," he added.
