The Border Violator Detected in Armavir is of Russian Nationality, Says Village Head

Incidents of border violations occur quite frequently in our area. This was stated by Gevorg Margaryan, the village head of Bagaran in Armavir Province, during a conversation with ArmDaily.am, addressing the case of local resident Habet Ghazaryan discovering a border violator and notifying the National Security Service (NSS).

“We have had border violations in November and December as well, and those individuals were reportedly Kurdish. I do not remember any incidents of border violations by Turks,” said the village head.

Regarding the nationality of the violator, Margaryan noted, “He is of Russian nationality and a citizen of Russia; he crossed the border and came into our territory. Our village youth caught him, called me, and we brought him in; we called the NSS, and they came and took him away.”

When asked if the individual posed any danger or had any weapons or similar items, Margaryan replied, “From an external inspection, he did not appear to pose any danger; he was around 55-60 years old and unarmed. However, the NSS can assess whether he posed any threat or not. Externally, he appeared to be a miserable individual.”

It should be noted that on February 27, the acting head of the National Security Service of Armenia, Colonel Eduard Martirosyan, awarded a local resident from the border community of Bagaran, Habet Ghazaryan, with a valuable gift—a watch—for demonstrating vigilance and correct orientation in discovering the border violator and handing him over to the border guards, which ultimately prevented his further movement within the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
