Discussion on Raising the Draft Age Threshold
Active discussions regarding draft issues are taking place within the government. According to information from the "Fact" newspaper, one of the proposals involves raising the draft age threshold.
Sources indicate that the draft age may change from 18-27 years to 20 (or even 21) to 30 years. This means that conscription would occur at 20 or 21 years of age instead of 18, while the upper limit for the draft age would shift from 27 to 30.
This topic is not new, as similar internal discussions have occurred previously, but according to our information, it has recently gained renewed relevance.
To verify this information, we contacted the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, asking if there have been discussions on this topic and whether they have indeed intensified. "Such discussions often take place, but if I say that a specific agenda has been developed for this issue to be addressed, no, that has not happened," said Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
