Meeting on Preventing Coronavirus Pandemic Held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Participation of Ambassadors

On February 27, a meeting on the prevention of the coronavirus pandemic was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the participation of ambassadors accredited in Armenia.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (acting Minister) Avet Adonts, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, and Deputy Minister Lena Nanushyan.

In his remarks, Minister Torosyan presented the steps being taken by the Armenian authorities to combat the virus, including measures to prevent the spread of the disease in case of detection at border points for incoming travelers.

At the end of the Minister's speech, ambassadors posed questions regarding the measures being implemented to Arsen Torosyan.

The Ambassador of China to Armenia, Tian Erlun, also addressed the meeting, presenting the latest statistics regarding the pandemic in his country, noting that the number of recoveries is increasing comparably day by day, and the Chinese authorities expect to control the spread of the virus by the current spring.

The Ambassador of Italy to Armenia, Vincenzo del Monaco, shared the epidemic situation in Italy, stating that the number of infections has exceeded 400, but both in terms of quantity and geography, the statistics are minimal and do not exceed about one-tenth of a percent.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Shombi Sharp, informed about the measures being taken by the organization.

The results of the meeting were summarized by the Minister of Health, while Avet Adonts announced that similar meetings involving diplomatic missions will be organized regularly as needed.
