VIDEO: Marijuana Trafficking Case Uncovered in Armenia

The press service of the Armenian Police reports that on February 24, around 21:00, detectives from the Marash Police Department detained two men, aged 64 and 40, on suspicion of acquiring, possessing, and trafficking drugs on Alek Manukyan Street.

One of the detainees resides in Norabats village of Ararat province, while the other is a resident of Yerevan. During a personal search of the 64-year-old man, a used pipe and a green, distinctly smelly, dried herbal substance were discovered. According to him, the substance found is cannabis, which he brought from Georgia in November 2019.

A similar substance was also found during the personal search of the 40-year-old man. Authorities also established that on February 14, in a park adjacent to Arami Street, the 64-year-old man sold this substance to the 40-year-old man for 20,000 AMD, marking not the first instance of such a transaction.

From October of last year until February 14, the 64-year-old man reportedly bought drugs from a resident of Norabats village for 20,000 AMD regularly, consuming them each time. An expert examination has been appointed. The 64-year-old man has been arrested, and a criminal case has been initiated. The investigation is ongoing.
