Three of the Deceased in Tavush Were Family Members, Heading to Surprise Grandmother for Her 50th Birthday: Details

As previously reported, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Tavush region on February 24, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to four others. The vehicles involved were a "MAZ" and a VAZ 2107. The latter was driven by 46-year-old Hambardzum Abrahamyan, a resident of Aygedzor village in the Tavush region, while the "MAZ" was driven by 56-year-old Aram Danielyan.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the VAZ, H. Abrahamyan, died on site. His passengers, including 76-year-old Amalya Grigoryan, 31-year-old Arsen Aghasyan, 26-year-old Ani Aperyan, 7-year-old Marianna Aghasyan, 5-year-old Avag Aghasyan, 4-year-old Susanna Aghasyan, and 1-year-old Angelina Aghasyan, were taken to the hospital with injuries, where A. Grigoryan, A. Aghasyan, and A. Aperyan later succumbed to their injuries.

In the VAZ 2107 were the husband and wife, their four children, the husband’s grandmother, and the driver, who is a fellow villager but not related to the family, working as a taxi driver. The deceased include the taxi driver, the grandmother, the children’s mother, and the 8-month-old infant.

In a conversation with ArmDaily.am, residents of Aygedzor mentioned that today the burial of the 8-month-old baby and her mother will take place, while tomorrow the burials of the grandmother and the taxi driver will be held.

The family members were traveling by taxi to Ijevan, where the deceased woman’s mother-in-law resides, to surprise her for her 50th birthday. On that day, the mother of the celebrant, 76-year-old Amalya Grigoryan, had expressed her unwillingness to go because one of her relatives was scheduled for surgery, but her granddaughter convinced her to attend.

When asked about the condition of the injured and whether they would participate in the relatives' funerals, our interlocutor mentioned that their conditions are serious, and all are currently in a hospital in Yerevan and will not be present at the funerals.

They also noted that the woman was not pregnant, and rumors about this are false. The first aid was provided to them at the Aygedzor hospital. The coffins were provided by the Berd mayor as assistance to the family.
