Opening Ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Lithuania

On February 25, a concert by the "Khachatryan Trio" took place at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, dedicated to the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Vilnius, which will cover the consular districts of Vilnius and Kaunas.

The Armenian Embassy in Lithuania announced on its Facebook page that the event, organized with the initiative and support of the embassy, was attended by Lithuania's Foreign Ministry Chancellor Laimonas Talat-Kelpsh, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Lithuania, senior officials from the legislative and executive branches of Lithuania, members of the Seimas, representatives from the public, political, and cultural sectors, intellectuals, journalists, and numerous members of the Armenian community.

In his opening remarks, Armenian Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan congratulated Dr. Karapet Babayan on assuming the position of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia, noting that the Armenian-Lithuanian relations, built on strong historical ties and shared values, have recently experienced significant growth.

Presenting Karapet Babayan, his career path, and current activities, Tigran Mkrtchyan emphasized that Babayan, through his activities as honorary consul, will contribute to the enhancement of bilateral economic and business ties, trade, tourism, and cultural and educational connections between the business communities of Armenia and Lithuania.

In conclusion, Ambassador Mkrtchyan introduced the internationally renowned "Khachatryan Trio," the pieces to be performed that evening, and expressed gratitude to all partners for their support in organizing the event.

Chancellor of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Laimonas Talat-Kelpsh, in his welcoming speech, congratulated Karapet Babayan on his appointment and wished him success in his endeavors. The Lithuanian official noted with satisfaction the establishment of direct air connections between Armenia and Lithuania, emphasizing its positive impact on deepening mutually beneficial cooperation across all sectors. He also referred to the upward development of the warm relations between Lithuania and Armenia.

He stated that he will work collaboratively with the Armenian Embassy to bring Lithuania and Armenia closer and to serve as another connecting link between our two friendly peoples.

During the concert portion of the event, the musicians of the "Khachatryan Trio" — pianist Arpine Grigoryan, violinist Karen Shakhgaldyan, and cellist Karen Kocharyan — performed works by Alexander Spendiarov, Arno Babajanyan, Aram Khachaturian, Arvo Pärt, Georges Pelecis, Mikalojus Čiurlionis, and others, which received enthusiastic applause from an audience-filled hall.
