No complaints reported from 52 passengers on flight from Tehran; new batch of coronavirus tests imported
The epidemiological situation related to the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) remains tense in several countries, especially in China, as of February 26. This information was provided to Armenpress by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, adding that according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) on February 25, there have been 80,239 cases reported globally, with 77,780 in China and 2,666 fatalities. Outside of China, 2,459 cases have been recorded in 33 countries, with 34 deaths.
According to the daily report from the State Health Commission of China, as of February 26 at 6:00 PM, the number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) reached 78,195, with 30,073 recoveries and 2,718 deaths. The same source reports that there are 81,226 confirmed cases worldwide.
The Armenian Ministry of Health continues its comprehensive measures against the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Medical organizations are equipped with the necessary medical supplies. A new batch of tests for the diagnosis of the new coronavirus infection has been imported into the country.
Despite the fact that the WHO does not currently recommend any specific medication for treating COVID-19, the ministry's specialists have researched the experience shared by China and other countries, leading to the development of procedures for managing patients with COVID-19.
To properly monitor the passengers returning by plane from Iran, Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan instructed a specialist from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention to travel to Tehran. The Tehran-Yerevan flight, carrying 52 passengers, landed at Zvartnots International Airport under the supervision of the specialist.
All passengers were thermally screened upon boarding, during the flight, and after landing. No complaints or fever were reported among them. They will remain under home observation.
According to the government decision that came into effect on February 25, which restricts border crossings between Iran and Armenia, on February 26, all freight vehicles coming through the Meghri checkpoint are being escorted by specialists from the Ministry of Health and the police. Monitoring is established for Iranian citizen drivers throughout Armenia, including at the customs warehouses of the State Revenue Committee, until their return, while monitoring for Armenian citizen drivers is set according to their place of residence.
