Iranian Trucks in Armenia Will Be Accompanied by Specialists and Police

All Iranian trucks entering Armenian territory through the Meghri checkpoint are moving under the escort of Armenian specialists and police. This was reported by Armenia's Health Minister Arsen Torosyan on his Facebook page, noting that this regulation is in accordance with the government's decision limiting crossings at the Iran-Armenia border.

"Control over Iranian citizen drivers is established throughout Armenia, including at the State Revenue Committee's customs warehouses, until their return. Armenian citizen drivers are subject to monitoring based on their place of residence," the minister stated.

Additionally, a specialist from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia’s Ministry of Health has been sent to Tehran by Torosyan’s order to monitor passengers returning by plane from Iran. "During the boarding of passengers on the plane, he will check their health status on-site, instruct them on the use of protective measures, and provide us with information to ensure appropriate actions are carried out in Yerevan. If there are no complaints, home monitoring will be established for passengers, while those who have complaints will be tested and hospitalized if necessary," Torosyan wrote.

It is noteworthy that the work at Zvartnots International Airport is coordinated by Deputy Health Minister Shaqvarsh Grigoryan.

It should be remembered that the coronavirus infection has already spread beyond the borders of China and has reached the Islamic Republic of Iran, which borders Armenia. As of February 25, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has reached 95, with 15 recorded deaths. No cases of the virus have been reported in Armenia.

Since February 23, the consular section of the Armenian Embassy in Iran has temporarily suspended operations, halting citizen admissions and entries.
