Fact: Ejmiadzin Municipality Plans to Purchase 5 Gold Rings with Diamond Stones
According to the "Fact" newspaper, the Ejmiadzin municipality has submitted its procurement plan for 2020 to the Ministry of Finance’s procurement system, which, notably, has been modified for the fourth time since its initial presentation.
The procurement plan outlines in detail the products and services the municipality intends to acquire this year. The list reveals that the municipality will be purchasing office supplies and economic items, air conditioners, and has allocated a certain amount for the repair of vehicles, purchase of auto parts, as well as for electricity, natural gas, water supply, fixed and mobile communication, internet, and postal services.
The municipality plans to spend 19 million 115 thousand drams on citywide events and half a million drams for purchasing wreaths and flowers.
Many of the acquisitions are aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of the municipality. No one disputes this; however, there are ongoing concerns about the organization of competitions during the procurement processes, which applies to all sectors of government.
Particularly notable in the lists of purchases from village councils and municipalities are items that, at first glance, certainly do not seem to be directly related to the functioning of the administration. Thus, in 2020, the Ejmiadzin municipality plans to acquire 5 gold rings with diamond stones. It is worth mentioning that the "necessity" for purchasing the rings emerged during the fourth modification of the procurement plan.
