What to Do When Receiving Emails or Messages Regarding Coronavirus

The Personal Data Protection Agency has issued a statement, which specifically states:

“Dear citizens, the World Health Organization (WHO) informs that cybercriminals are trying to take advantage of people's concerns related to the coronavirus and are conducting phishing attacks by posing as the WHO.

Although there are currently no cases of coronavirus infection in Armenia and no such cyberattacks have been registered, remain vigilant. When receiving emails or messages related to the coronavirus:

  • Check the sender's address,
  • Do not click on links or attached files in the message,
  • Do not provide your personal information (username, password) to suspicious, unsolicited messages.

Cybercriminals exploit the anxiety people feel and steal sensitive data. If you are asked for personal information by strangers or from unknown addresses, be cautious with such emails.

Follow only official communications.”
