Vardenyats Pass Closed Due to Blizzard

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 25 at 08:35, there are closed roads in the territory of Armenia. The roads leading to the Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in the Aragatsotn region will remain closed for an indefinite period.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed to all types of vehicles due to a blizzard. In the Shirak region, the city of Gyumri and the rural areas of Amasia and Ashotsk are experiencing snowfall.

Throughout February 25, blizzard conditions are expected in the northern regions, especially in mountainous areas, along with precipitation in the form of snow and sleet.

Regarding Lars, according to information from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the crisis management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open to all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
