Catholicos Receives Members of the National Assembly

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, hosted a group of members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the "My Step" faction on February 25 at the Mother See.

During the meeting, faction leader Lilit Makunts introduced the members of parliament to the Catholicos, expressing hope that such visits would become a regular occurrence.

Throughout the conversation, the Catholicos welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of similar meetings between the legislative body and the clergy, expressing confidence that they would positively contribute to mutual recognition issues.

His Holiness highlighted that such gatherings and discussions would undoubtedly serve the interests of the people and the homeland.

The Catholicos touched upon the significant mission of the parliamentarians and the great responsibility on their shoulders to address the challenges facing the homeland through legislative activities and to contribute to the regulation of citizens' lives.

Calling for heavenly assistance in this important commitment, the Catholicos noted that the vision of the Armenian clergy and the programs being implemented are also directed towards the process of state-building and strengthening the homeland.

In this regard, the Catholicos underscored that the members of the legislative body and the clergy share the same spirit of dedication and are guided by the same awareness of seeing their homeland strong and their people's lives prosperous.

During the meeting, various topics concerning the life of the homeland, the mission of the Armenian Church, and its activities in pastoral, educational, and social spheres were discussed. Special emphasis was placed on improving the relations between the Church and the state and the spiritual service of the clergy in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
