Police Detain Pickpockets and Recover Stolen Wallets

On February 21, employees of the 6th division of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police revealed two cases of pickpocketing.

The first incident occurred in the Shengavit administrative district. Around 5 PM, a woman's wallet was stolen from her bag on bus number 12, which contained cash. Thanks to the vigilant service of the specialized unit, the suspect was caught minutes after the incident.

Officers from the Pickpocketing Prevention Department brought a 65-year-old resident of Shirak Street to the Shengavit Police Department. During the personal search of the man, the stolen item was discovered. The victim filed a complaint.

The second incident was registered at the Central Police Department. At 6:30 PM, a woman reported that hours earlier, she had noticed her wallet was stolen from her shoulder bag on Mashtots Avenue, which also contained cash. An operational group initiated a search operation. The officers from the Criminal Investigation Department later joined the search and received information that the theft might have been committed by a 31-year-old resident of Kharberd.

On the same day, the suspect was brought to the Central Police Department from Baghramyan Avenue and provided a confession. The circumstances are being clarified.
