No Restrictions for Citizens of Armenia and Iran Returning to Their Countries, Says Prime Minister
Just minutes ago, a meeting of the Coronavirus Prevention Committee concluded at the Government of Armenia, and the Prime Minister informed about the decisions made on his Facebook page, stating:
- 1. Suspend land communication with the Islamic Republic of Iran for two weeks.
- 2. Apply partial restrictions on air communication.
- 3. Conduct freight transportation with the Islamic Republic of Iran without restrictions, while implementing a special monitoring regime for drivers.
- 4. Apply no restrictions for citizens of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran returning to their homeland.
- 5. Remain in close communication with the friendly government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the next two weeks, completing information on the spread of the coronavirus in Iran to determine further actions.
- 6. The government will soon hold a remote meeting to make the relevant decision, which will come into effect upon publication.
I would like to emphasize that Armenia has no confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, and I hope that we will not have any. Armenia has all the necessary technical and professional resources for accurate diagnosis of the coronavirus.
It is worth noting that the Prime Minister informed about the need to close the border yesterday. In addition to the Republic of Armenia, Turkey and Afghanistan have also imposed border restrictions with Iran.
