High Absenteeism Observed in Certain Schools: Harutyunyan

“At this moment, we have no information about any cases of coronavirus in Armenia; we are in consultation with the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Health should provide the background information and submit a request for us to make a decision,” said the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Arayik Harutyunyan, in response to inquiries about the temporary closure of schools.

He noted that they have information indicating that high absenteeism is being observed in certain schools, but they are waiting for an assessment from the Ministry of Health.

Regarding news about the arrest of a lecturer at Yerevan State University, the minister stated that he would not make any comments while an investigation is ongoing.

He also informed that he will participate in the campaign for the upcoming referendum, although he is unsure of the schedule.

Harutyunyan assured that no higher education institution or school has been, or will be, involved in the campaign.
