Georgia Shuts Down Air Travel with Iran
Due to the coronavirus, air communication between Georgia and Iran has been temporarily suspended. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
“Taban Airlines,” “TQeshm Airlines,” and “Zagros” airlines have also been informed that they may operate empty flights to transport Iranian citizens currently in Georgia.
“The restrictions will remain in place until the risk of the epidemic situation in Iran decreases. The government of Georgia continues to monitor the evolving situation and is working with Armenia and Azerbaijan. If necessary, land travel restrictions will also be imposed,” the statement reads.
The Georgian government has urged its citizens to refrain from traveling to Iran. It should be noted that Armenia has also imposed a two-week suspension of air and land travel with Iran.
