Georgia Restricts Movement of Its Citizens to Iran and Vice Versa

As part of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the government of Georgia has decided to temporarily restrict the movement of people between Iran and Georgia.

According to a statement released by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government's decision is based on the fact that, after China, Iran is recording the highest rates of coronavirus distribution. Previously, the Georgian government had suspended direct flights with China.

At the same time, the Georgian government is maintaining close ties with the World Health Organization, the international community, and Iranian authorities to obtain timely information regarding the spread of the virus.

“In light of the current situation, the Georgian government has decided to restrict the movement of people from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia and vice versa,” the statement reads.
