Armenian Boxer Petros Ananyan Knocks Out Puerto Rican Sabriel Matias
Armenian boxer Petros Ananyan achieved victory in the ring against Puerto Rican Sabriel Matias. The match took place in Las Vegas on February 23, under the Premier Boxing Champions banner. The 31-year-old Armenian's win was surprising, as Matias had won his previous 15 bouts by knockout.
In the final moments of the seventh round, Ananyan knocked Matias down. Footage shows that the Puerto Rican was saved from falling entirely by the ropes, but the referee started the count. The match concluded with scores of 96-93, 95-94, and 95-94 in favor of the Armenian.
It is noteworthy that Matias was the last opponent of Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev. After their fight in July 2019, Dadashev fell into a coma and later passed away. Petros dedicated his victory to Dadashev, stating on his Instagram, “Well, friends, I cannot not dedicate this match to my teammate, Maxim Dadashev, and his family. This is for you, my friend. I also want to thank my team.”
