Iravunk: Authorities Have Washed Their Hands of Yerevan State University

The newspaper Iravunk writes: "It is said that until now there is no clarity in the government camp regarding the issue of the rector of Yerevan State University (YSU). The matter is that the preferred candidate for the authorities and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan was the former deputy minister, now MP, the well-known Soros supporter Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, who gained notoriety for his 'tractates' on the church and miracles of raising the dead, yet did not have a doctoral degree.

However, when he eventually obtained it, he no longer had the support of the Minister of Education and the authorities. It is rumored that a 'black cat' has passed between Minister Harutyunyan and his former deputy Hovhannisyan, as they found themselves embroiled in various controversies. Furthermore, the authorities have realized that if they try to appoint Hovhannisyan as the rector of YSU, they would first suffer serious repercussions; Hovhannisyan would become a powerful 'platform,' especially for the public that has already risen against Soros, and as a result, the authorities' already tattered image would be further damaged. For this reason, the authorities have washed their hands of YSU, as even more 'urgent' issues such as the Constitutional Court, a referendum, and the problems in Artsakh are knocking on their door."
