‘Hayos’ Reports: Incoming Foreign Transfers Increased by $15.3 Million in 2019

‘Hayos’ newspaper reports: The amount of remittances coming to Armenia from abroad in the name of individuals continues to show growth. In December of last year, the net inflow of remittances received through banks amounted to $65.9 million. Notably, compared to December 2018, the net inflow of foreign money sent to Armenia increased by $15.3 million, while $150.4 million left Armenia in December.

Additionally, it is worth noting that the net inflow from the Russian Federation, or in other words, the money that came to Armenia and remained, reached $45.8 million in December. It is clear that a significant portion of these funds are transferred by Armenians working abroad, and the money sent is a primary means of livelihood for their families living here.

Moreover, the net inflow of remittances from the United States has notably increased: while in November of the previous year it was $10.8 million, in December it rose to $18.7 million.
