Government Reorganizations Expected in Artsakh Defense Army

According to the newspaper "Joghovurd," following a consultation held by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on February 17, Armenian officials have been traveling to Artsakh one after another. Based on the newspaper's information, Artsakh will also receive Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan on February 22.

It is known that the meeting with Nikol Pashinyan was prompted by recent death incidents in the army, attended by Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan, Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, Acting Director of the National Security Service Eduard Martirosyan, Chief of the General Staff Artak Davtyan, and representatives of various security bodies.

During that meeting, after discussing the situation, Nikol Pashinyan urged those present to travel to Artsakh to familiarize themselves with the circumstances and conduct an investigation. Following that consultation, the Chief Prosecutor of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan, and the military prosecutor Vahe Harutyunyan also visited Artsakh.

The newspaper has learned of upcoming dismissals in the Defense Army (PБ) of Artsakh. It is already known that the fate of the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Karen Abrahamyan, has been decided, and according to the newspaper, the absence of an official order is a merely technical matter; it is expected to be issued following a joint meeting of the Security Councils in Artsakh in the coming days.

After that meeting, the dismissals will not be limited to just the Defense Army commander, and in the near future, resignations will also occur among the battalion commanders, deputies responsible for personnel management, as well as officials in charge of training whose knowledge is deemed inadequate.

This discussion and decision were reached following a meeting between the Chief Prosecutor of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan, and the Defense Army command. Thus, a wave of dismissals is expected to also reach the Defense Army.

Currently, there are internal discussions in Artsakh and Armenia about who else may be dismissed from their positions; on the radar is also the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, head of the operational main department, Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan.

Additionally, the responsibilities of the head of the Military Police will today be taken over by the Deputy Head of the Police in the operational line, Alexander Aghajanyan.
