VIDEO: Prominent Figures Built Mansions in Monument, Now Claim Their Buildings Are Illegal - Pashinyan

In rural areas, houses are constructed without any architectural project - just four walls, a roof, and a final structure. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a government meeting on February 20, adding, 'Any construction must be carried out with a design, permission, etc.'

Pashinyan also addressed the issue of illegal mansions built by former high-ranking officials. 'It has now become clear that there are mansions in Yerevan that have been built illegally from start to finish. For example, several well-known villas owned by former high-ranking officials are entirely illegal constructions. These same high-ranking officials have exerted efforts to adopt legislation for the legalisation of illegal buildings, so that the illegal constructions can be completed, and today the Yerevan municipality has no option but to legalise those buildings.'

'Most famous people, for instance, have constructed disproportionately large houses in Monument and now come saying, “Our building is illegal, you are obliged by law to legalise it.” The Mayor of Yerevan says that all lawyers are stating that we must legalise them,' the Prime Minister said.

He instructed Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan to discuss this issue with the Mayor of Yerevan and find solutions. 'Our country is unveiling facts that are rather uncomfortable to respond to,' Pashinyan added.
