Students' Knowledge Levels Increased in 2019: RA Education Inspection Body

The Republic of Armenia's Education Inspection Body has summarized its activities in 2019 and published the results of inspections conducted in educational institutions across the country during the same year. The aim is to contribute to the improvement of education quality and enhance the effectiveness of the education sector.

In the area of preschool education, inspections were carried out in 34 kindergartens across Armenia as part of the annual inspection program for 2019. According to the recorded results, the average risk score for inspections of kindergartens increased to 24 points compared to 2018. This indicates an unfavorable situation concerning the implementation of legislative requirements in the field of preschool education.

In the field of general education, inspections were conducted in 33 schools in Armenia as per the annual program for 2019. The average risk score from the inspections in 2019 was 9.8 points, signaling an improvement in the situation.

To assess residual knowledge, the Education Inspection Body also administered written assessments in the subjects of Armenian Language (dictation) and Mathematics. The results of the written assessments in 2019 were higher than those of 2018. Specifically, the average score for the dictation in Armenian Language was 4.9 points in 2018 and increased to 5.8 points in 2019. In the Mathematics written assessments, the average score in schools assessed in 2018 was 3.8 points, rising to 4.4 points in 2019. Despite the fact that the recorded results cannot be deemed satisfactory, the positive dynamics are encouraging.
