Ministry Addresses Incident of Inmate Nail-Gunning Genitals to Chair at Armavir Penitentiary

The Ministry of Justice has provided clarifications regarding an incident that occurred the day before at the Armavir penitentiary, where an inmate had nailed his genitals to a chair.

According to the statement issued by the ministry, on February 18, H.B., an inmate at the Armavir facility, demanded that several boxes of medication brought by his relatives be provided to him without any relevant medical indication. The medical staff explained to him several times that taking the amount of medication he requested was contraindicated and could have harmful effects on his health.

After not receiving the requested medication, H.B. resorted to self-harm, threatening to force the doctors to give him the desired dosage of medication through this act. Following explanatory work with him, H.B. was provided with the appropriate medication in a therapeutic dosage. The self-inflicted wound was treated, and currently, H.B.’s health condition is satisfactory, and he remains under the supervision of the medical staff.

The situation at the Armavir penitentiary is stable, and the staff from the corrections medical center is fulfilling their duties by providing medical assistance to the inmates and convicts.
