Incidents of Minors Causing Harm to Health Decrease, Says Duryan
Incidents of minors causing harm to health have decreased. This was stated by Nelli Duryan, head of the Department for the Protection of Minors' Rights and the Fight Against Domestic Violence at the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, on her Facebook page.
Recently, information has spread on the internet about incidents involving minors using sharp objects to inflict varying degrees of harm to health. I would like to note that the preventive measures being implemented among minors are under the daily attention and supervision of the competent police services.
For about a month now, meetings have been held in all public schools of the republic with the participation of students, parents, and educators, discussing the dangers and consequences of carrying cold weapons or similar objects.
It is important to mention that in 2019, as a result of the measures taken by police officers, incidents of minors causing harm to health decreased by 10 compared to the same period last year (34 cases in 2018 and 24 in 2019), including those causing willful serious harm to health (17 in 2018 and 16 in 2019).
As part of various ongoing measures, in 2019, police officers discovered 37 cases of illegal carrying of weapons (cold weapons) by minors, compared to 20 in 2018. I urge all parents to stay vigilant and consistent in preventing their children from carrying sharp or cold weapons or similar objects,” Duryan wrote.
