Azerbaijani Soldier Detonates Mine in Intermediary Zone
On February 19, it was reported that at the request of the Azerbaijani side, a demining team from the Armenian Armed Forces had undertaken searches for a missing soldier in the intermediary territory between the Armenian and Azerbaijani military forces. The Azerbaijani soldier was found just a few meters beyond Azerbaijani positions.
The operations took place in the vicinity of Movses village, facilitated by the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Andrzej Kasprzyk, with the support of the ICRC.
According to Razm.info, a resident of the Aghjabadi region, Elshan Abasov, had been considered missing since January 16. Social media posts indicated that Abasov's body was discovered on February 12 in the direction of the Aghdam village of the Tovuz region, within the intermediary zone of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Reports mentioned that Abasov's body was dismembered. There are speculations that Abasov detonated a mine in the intermediary zone. However, the circumstances surrounding Abasov's death remain unclear.
