UK to Develop $1.6 Billion Supercomputer for Weather Forecasting

The UK government is set to develop a supercomputer valued at £1.2 billion ($1.6 billion), which will enhance the accuracy of weather forecasting. This announcement was made by the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

“With the help of cutting-edge technology, we will be able to predict the weather more accurately and timely, which is extremely important in the context of climate change,” commented Penny Endersby, Chief Executive of the UK Met Office.
