Roads Closed and Difficult to Navigate in Armenia

The roads leading to the Amberd Fortress and Kar lake in the Aragatsotn region will remain closed for an indefinite period, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. As of February 17, at 18:20, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads across the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed to freight vehicles only, with patches of black ice present. The segment of the M-2 highway from the 148th km towards Jermuk is also closed for heavy trucks. Roads connecting Ashotsk and Amasia, Sisian-Goris, Sotk-Karvachar (due to blizzards), and the Saravan-Zanger segment face considerable difficulties in navigation.

Snow is reported in the bends of Tigranashen, in the city of Kajaran in the Syunik region, in areas called Zanger and Meghri Mountain, in the city of Jermuk in the Vayots Dzor region, in the city of Chambarak in the Gegharkunik region, as well as in Dilijan, Ijevan, and Novemberyan in the Tavush region, in the cities of Abovyan, Yeghvard, and Hrazdan in the Armavir region, and in the towns of Stepanavan and Tashir in the Lori region. Additionally, fog is reported on the road leading to Tavush.

According to information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations' crisis management center in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles. However, the Russian side has a backlog of about 1,000 trucks. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
