Jermuk-Gorayk Road Closed Due to Ice Conditions
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 17 at 08:55, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia.
The roads leading to the Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in the Aragatsotn region will remain closed for an indefinite time. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for freight vehicles, and the Sotk-Karvachar road is difficult to navigate. The Jermuk-Gorayk road is closed due to a snowstorm. There are 15 freight and 25 passenger vehicles piled up on the Jermuk side, while on the Gorayk side, there are 40 vehicles.
There is black ice present in places on the Vardenyats Pass. The inter-community roads of Ashotzk and Amasia are difficult to navigate. In the Ararat region, in the city of Ararat and the Tigranashen turns, and in the Syunik region (except for the city of Meghri), there is snowfall.
Regarding the Larsi area, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is open for all types of vehicles. It has been reported that there are approximately 1,000 freight cars piled up on the Russian side.
