Indian Embassy Proposes to Install Mahatma Gandhi's Statue in Yerevan
A member of the Yerevan City Council’s “My Step” faction, Levon Zakaryan, has raised a question for public discussion on his Facebook page. He specifically mentioned:
“I would like to know the opinion of our fellow citizens. We have received a proposal from the Indian Embassy to install a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the city of Yerevan. The suggested locations are the Circular Park or the park adjacent to the Republican Hospital. The image above shows the proposed option.”
In connection with the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a year-long march titled “Moving Towards Freedom and Peace” began on October 2, 2019, from Delhi to Geneva, which will also pass through Armenia and Artsakh. The participants of the march are currently in Armenia.
