Medical Masks Have Become More Expensive in Armenia

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in China, medical masks have become more expensive in Armenia, and they are nearly sold out in major pharmacy chains. Investigations by Hetq.am have revealed that masks are primarily imported from China. The reporter visited several pharmacies to find out the current prices of medical masks.

Currently, masks are being sold in pharmacies for either 25 or 30 drams each. There are also some that sell for 70 or 80 drams. Prices in major pharmacy chains have not changed, but private pharmacies have seen fluctuations in pricing. It is mainly noted that suppliers have raised their prices, and pharmacies sell at the prices they acquire the masks.

The director of the Union of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Taguhi Piruzyan, stated in an interview that companies that are members of the Union and manufacture drugs in Armenia do not produce medical masks.
