Olympic Games, European, and World Champion Arthur Aleksanyan has become the European Champion for the fifth time. In the final of the 97 kg weight category at the European Championship for Greco-Roman wrestling held in the capital city of Rome, Arthur Aleksanyan competed against Nikoloz Kakhelashvili from Italy. The Armenian wrestler outperformed his opponent with a score of 7:1, securing his fifth gold medal at the European Championship.

Aleksanyan started his competition at the European Championship from the Round of 16, where he defeated Turkish wrestler Zenk Ildem, followed by a victory over Bulgarian Kiril Milov, and in the semifinals, he triumphed over Finland's Mati Elias Kuomani.

Arthur Aleksanyan has won the European Championships in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2018. The Gyumri athlete is an Olympic champion from the Rio Games and has also won the World Championships three times in 2014, 2015, and 2017.

It is worth noting that Armenia claimed four medals in the tournament, including two gold and two bronze medals. Gevorg Garibyan and Arthur Aleksanyan became European champions, while Karen Aslanyan and Karapet Chalyan stood on the third step of the podium.
