In the quarterfinal match of the 97 kg category, the referee awarded a passive call to the Bulgarian wrestler in the first round, allowing Aleksanyan to take control from underneath. The Olympic champion quickly turned the score around with four consecutive rolls, bringing the score to 9-0.

In the semifinals, Aleksanyan will face Georgian Revazi Nadareishvili. The Olympic champion began his victorious campaign from the Round of 16, where he defeated Turkish wrestler Cenk İldem with a score of 7-1.
