Wrestler Gevorg Haribyan Becomes European Champion
Greco-Roman wrestler Gevorg Haribyan has won his first gold medal at the European Championships.
In the final of the 60 kg category at the European Championships held in the Italian capital, Rome, Haribyan faced Turkish athlete Kerem Kamali. The Armenian wrestler emerged victorious with a score of 5:5, securing the gold medal of the tournament.
Haribyan began his journey in the qualification round, defeating Bulgarian wrestler Augustin Boyanov Spasov with a score of 9:1. In the round of 16, he overpowered Azerbaijani wrestler Murad Bazarov with an impressive score of 8:0. In the semifinals, he quickly beat Estonian Hilari Maigisalu also with an 8:0 score.
This European Championship is not a qualifying event for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
