Video: 40 Bottles of Cognac, Gold Jewelry, and Other Expensive Drinks Stolen from House
In November of last year and January of this year, thefts were reported from a house on Dimitryan Street in Gavar. Taking advantage of the homeowners' absence, the thief entered through a window and stole jewelry, household items, 40 bottles of cognac, and other expensive beverages, causing more than 1 million drams in material damage.
Upon receiving the report of residential burglary, officers from the Gavar Police Department conducted relevant investigations at the scene. They determined the items that were stolen but the victim did not suspect anyone.
The investigative body carried out all legally prescribed measures, and their efforts were not in vain. Days after the report was made, detectives from the department, in collaboration with the Gegharkunik regional administration and investigative bodies, received information that the residential burglary could have been committed by a 31-year-old resident of Freedom Street.
On February 6, within the framework of the criminal case initiated regarding the theft, a search was conducted at the suspect's apartment and outbuildings. Police discovered a bulb with traces of black residue and a dry, crushed substance resembling marijuana, which the suspect claimed was for personal use.
Later, it became clear that the 31-year-old man had sold the stolen items in Yerevan. That same day, thanks to the explanatory work of law enforcement, he voluntarily appeared at the Gavar Police Department and provided a confession.
Further measures revealed that the suspect had also stolen approximately 130,000 drams worth of alcoholic beverages from a house on Syadyan Street in October 2019. On another occasion, he attempted to enter one of the houses on Freedom 2nd Alley but left when he found nothing of value.
During the investigative experiment, the man detailed how he entered the house and what he stole from where. Victims have filed reports. Some of the stolen items from the house on Dimitryan Street have been partially recovered. The circumstances are being clarified. The pre-investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
