First Case of Coronavirus Infection Registered in India
A new strain of coronavirus infection has been registered in the Indian state of Kerala, as reported by the "RIA Novosti" agency, referencing a statement issued by the government's information bureau.
According to the announcement, "The first case of a student studying in Wuhan infected with coronavirus has been confirmed in Kerala." The patient's condition is reported to be stable, and he is under observation.
On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of an unknown type of pneumonia in the city of Wuhan (Hubei province) located in the central part of the country. Experts believe that the causative agent of the disease is the new strain of coronavirus, 2019-nCoV.
According to the latest data from the Chinese National Health Commission, the total number of infected with the new strain of coronavirus in China has reached 7,711, with 170 fatalities.
